11:11

My friends and I were all hanging out one night when I looked down at my phone and it was 11:11 p.m.

"Hey, check it. It's 11:11."

Then Addi and I commented at the exact same time...

Simultaneous conversation:

Addi: Time to make a wish.
Me: Time to talk with the devil.

[dead silence]

Everyone in the room stopped and turned to me with confused and slightly creeped out faces.

Me: Um...

In my defense, I had a meso-american civilization class like 4 years ago and the teacher told us one day in class that there are two superstitious times/places that some people believe you can talk to the devil...

a.) at a crossroads and
b.) at 11:11

So once again, I think I should get some kind of props for even remembering that, let alone finding a place in everyday conversation to use it. But alas, judgement had already been passed and I was labeled as "the group Wiccan" for the night.

Morals of the Post:
  • Sure am glad I paid tuition for that.

  2. LOL!!! Not to throw you under the bus, but I took a Northern Meso-American art/culture capstone course my senior year of college and my teacher never let us in on that tidbit . . . and it kind of seems like the sort of trivia professors wouldn't leave out.

  3. ok...i am SO on your side when it comes to this sort of thing. I like to meet tragedy and terror head-on, rather than have it sneak up on me. Why be in denial? PS i would love to learn about Meso-American witching hours with you.

reading a post without leaving a comment is like drinking a
32 oz. Coke and not burping after; it's just not healthy.
